Addicting Clips

Addictingclipslogo
Kaboom! A firework factory goes up in flames. This clip is from Addicting Clips, the content site from Atom Films. Very much like Youtube and Google video. Each clip has its associated snippet for you to embed:

Widget Frenzy

Typepadlogo
TypePad are about to roll out Widgets. They have partnered with a bunch (over 30) of applications, content providers etc, to allow TypePad users to add these widgets to their blog sidebars.
It's a fascinating addition and I'm sure TypePad users will happily pile in the widgets.
So why aren't I showing you how to do it here? Well, you can't use them if you use Advanced Templates (don't ask), an I use Advanced Templates. If I didn't use Advanced Templates, I wouldn't be able to show you all the other widgets from around the place. So I'm caught in a cleft stick.
It's a step forward, but it's still a walled garden in that you have to be a TypePad user on normal templates to use it.
Fun though - and with an API, we should see a lot more widgets rolling out. And, once applications see how widgets for TypePad go, they'll want then on everything else, won't they?

Evoca

Evocalogo
Evoca is like Odeo. Maybe better, maybe worse. You record what you want and then distribute it as you wish. Basic service is free, PRO is $5 a month. Not bad.
Evocagetyerown
You can add your recording to various things - but at the moment only to a Blogger blog. And although they say:

Use a different blogging software? You can also copy and paste                           the custom HTML code we provide with each recording                           on Evoca.

there is no sign of the code. I've asked, I'll report.

Where in the world?

Track where your visitors are coming from with GeoVisitors, by adding this bit of code:
<a href="http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/geovisitors/"><img src="http://geo.digitalpoint.com/a.png" alt="MySpace Layout Codes" style="border:0"></a>
to your site, to get this small button:

Mobber

Mobberlogo

Who's On?   Mobber's patent-pending software shows you who's on a particular web page, allowing you to chat with them privately or in a group. We make the web a two-way real-time medium. Got a site, or online profile? Add Mobber to it in under 5 seconds. Go on… mob the web!

OK, let's give it a spin. The code is very simple:

<iframe src='http://www.mobber.com/embed/ajax?v=c' width=775 height=115 frameborder=0 scrolling=no></iframe>

And this is what it does locally:

Grazr

Grazrlogo
How's about one of these from Grazr:

Choose RSS feeds and assemble them for your site. This is the default Grazr set, but I think you can use your own RSS feed or OPML file for collection of feeds.

Some Flash Toys

How about some Flash toys for your site?

[Quick Update: I put two toys on my site and it totally screwed the site up, so I took them off again. If you want to try them, let me know how it goes]

TypePad Hacks

Typepadhacks
In case you hadn't noticed, I use TypePad from Six Apart for this (and my other) blogs. I've been using TypePad for more than two years now. I wouldn't say I'm a power user in by any means, but I've learned to get around it and use it to more or less do what I want. But it can be frustrating and Six Apart are not the fastest to change and add things (though their user support has always been very efficient and friendly).
Anyway, as Blog software is key to the Snipperoo project, I was dead chuffed to see artist and designer John T Unger pope up with his TypePadHacks blog. It's worth a visit to read all about it, but the essence is:

I believe that blogs have the power to change lives, and sometimes the world. I believe this because it happened to me and I know I'm not remotely the only person who can say that. So I started this blog to try to make TypePad an even more powerful tool for change. I figure with enough help from other bloggers, it's possible. It's certainly worth a shot.

And if you're wondering who the heck is John T Unger, then this should answer your question:

Swicki

Swikilogo
Sometimes when I cover an application, I hardly have to say anything about it as the concept is so obvious. Sometimes I have to explain at some length. And sometimes I hardly even know what it is I've done myself, which makes explaining somewhat more difficult. This is one of those.
As I'm effectively experimenting with these snippets by installing them here and writing about them at the same time, it is hard to know what the result might be. The eurekster swicki (and what sort of a name is Eurekster?) is a nich wiki as far as I can work out.
Swickiwhatis
So there you go! I've started the Snipperoo swicki, which I think will pop up in the right column (and below here) when I paste this code:
