paidcontent.org reports that Conde Nast's teen site Flip has decided to loose these earthly bonds and become a site that exists purely on other networks - i.e. it will widgetize itself. That's an ungainly word and it isn't generally used in this sense, but we will see more and more sites widgetizing, and many startups setting out not to have a big fat central site in the first place. That's my big prediction for the rest of the decade (what's left of it). More on this subject soon.
CondeNet Reworks Flip.com As Social Net App Starting With Facebook; Site Will Remain
CondeNet is remaking its teen-focused community site Flip.com into an app that will live on other social nets. The first to get the new Flip app is Facebook, with others to follow, CondeNet announced a few minutes ago. The company will continue to operate Flip’s website. However, moving forward, Flip’s continued development and marketing focus will involve social net apps only, as CondeNet tries to find a way to build its audience from its current 300,000 users. The Flip app will be ready by the end of this month.
